As a pioneer in the fields of biochemical engineering study and engineering education, he took charge of the establishment of the “National Bioengineering Technology Research Center”. The achievements which he was in charge of won the first and third awards of the national scientific and technological advance, and two first awards and one second award at provincial and ministerial levels. He won the titles of the “Young and Middle-aged Experts Who Have Made Outstanding Contribution” at national level, “Model Worker of Jiangsu Province” and “National Model Teacher” one after another. In 2001,he was recommended as the Chinese member of the World Chemical Engineering Council.
