| Introduction |
Main Research Fields
Animal cell culture. High density cultivation of animal cells for the production of vaccines and recombinant proteins for pharmaceutical use, involving the process engineering researches on serum-free culture, metabolic regulation, expression optimization, and molecular heterogenesis control.
Marine biotechnology. The development of attenuated live vaccine for marine fishes, including the researches on pathogen microbiology, pathogen-related functional gene, and gene modification technology.
Biopharmaceutical engineering. High-density fermentation and gene regulation of recombinant microorganisms and separation and purification of product proteins in large-scale pharmaceutical production. For example, more than 3 g/l hirudin was produced in recombinant Pichia pastoris fermentation, based on exact control of gene inducing level, proper synthesis of key enzymes, and rational inhibition of product truncation. |
